Art Costa, Ed.D.Dr. Costa is an emeritus professor of education at California State University, Sacramento, and co-director of the Institute for Intelligent Behavior. He has been a classroom teacher, a curriculum consultant, an assistant superintendent for instruction, and a director of educational programs for NASA. He is the author of numerous books, including Techniques for Teaching Thinking, The School as a Home for the Mind, and Cognitive Coaching: A Foundation for Renaissance Schools. |

Robert Marzano, Ph.D.Dr. Marzano serves as a senior scholar at the Mid-continent Regional Educational Laboratory (McREL), where he translates research and theory into practical applications for schools and teachers. Additionally, he is a professor at Cardinal Stritch University. Dr. Marzano’s impressive list of publications includes A Comprehensive Guide to Designing Standards-Based Districts, Schools, and Classrooms; and Designing a New Taxonomy of Educational Objectives. |

Jay McTighe, M.Ed.Mr. McTighe is the former director of the Maryland Assessment Consortium, a group of school districts exploring innovative assessment techniques. He also consults with districts nationwide. Mr. McTighe is the co-author of Assessing Student Outcomes. |

Dorothy Strickland, Ph.D.Dr. Strickland offers more than 50 years of knowledge and perspective as a reading and literacy expert. She began her landmark career as an elementary classroom teacher, and went on to serve as a reading consultant and learning disabilities specialist before assuming such leadership roles as president of both the International Reading Association (IRA) and its Reading Hall of Fame. Today she is a senior research fellow at the Rutgers University Graduate School of Education. |

Carol Ann Tomlinson, Ed.D.Dr. Tomlinson’s career as an educator includes 21 years as a public school teacher, with 12 years as a program administrator of special services for struggling and advanced learners. She was Virginia’s Teacher of the Year in 1974. More recently, she has been a faculty member at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education. |

David Thornburg, Ph.D.As one of 20 initial founders of the field of educational technology, according to the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Dr. Thornburg is widely recognized for his work in advancing technology in learning. He is the founder of the Thornburg Center and consults for schools, foundations, and governments around the world. A central theme in his research and publications is preparing students for their future, not their past. |

George Hillocks, Jr., Ph.D.Dr. Hillocks, Professor Emeritus, Departments of Education and English Language and Literature at the University of Chicago, is one of the world’s leading authorities on writing instruction. In 2010 Dr. Hillocks received the Distinguished Lifetime Researcher Award given by the National Conference on Research in Language and Literacy. Dr. Hillocks has written extensively on effective practices in writing instruction, including Teaching Writing as Reflective Practice and Narrative Writing, for which he has received several awards from the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). |
