You have the unique opportunity to lay the mathematical foundation that can help your students succeed. By ensuring that all of your students receive high-quality math instruction, you will equip them with the mathematical literacy skills required of workers in the 21st century, such as the ability to problem-solve, think conceptually, and make meaning of numbers. This course will cover the processes and content areas defined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).

With this graduate-level course, you will learn how to deliver high-quality, engaging mathematics instruction while developing your own understanding of foundational mathematics concepts. Experts in mathematics education share proven strategies for fostering a deeper understanding of math concepts for both you and your students.

Teaching Tangibles

  • Explore current changes in elementary mathematics instruction.
  • Examine standards set forth by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
  • Learn how to eliminate apprehension and frustration often associated with math.
  • Develop instructional activities and assessments that facilitate effective problem-solving skills.
  • Help your students connect mathematics with other content areas.
  • Discover meaningful ways to teach such topics as geometry, algebra, and numbers and operations.
