Would you like to dive into a concentrated area of study? Do you want to expand your knowledge of theory and practice in a particular area? Are you considering a master’s program and want to take some graduate-level teacher courses that may transfer* later? If so, the Canter Course Series may be right for you. Canter offers a wide selection of teacher courses online, all of which are designed to provide the kind of training for educators that will enhance your skills and advance your career.

Each Canter Course Series below includes four courses focused on a theme. The teacher courses are listed in their recommended sequence in each series but you can take the courses in any order you choose, in either the print & DVD or online format. You must enroll and complete a series of teacher courses within 12 months.

Elementary Reading

The Elementary Reading series identifies how effective reading teachers meet the needs of students at any level and then delves into strategies that can help beginning, developing, and struggling readers to become successful readers.

Secondary Level Literacy

The Secondary-Level Literacy series focuses on the concerns of secondary teachers, providing them with the latest brain-based research and strategies on adolescent learning and helping to address barriers to content-area learning, such as reading motivation and advanced literacy.

Classroom Management

The Classroom Management series broadens the set of tools available to teachers for creating an efficient, well-managed classroom in which students are motivated, active, engaged, and cooperative and focused on learning.

Teacher Leadership

The Teacher Leadership series focuses on the individual development of teachers as leaders of teaching in the classroom, of coaching and mentoring at the school and peer levels, and finally as agents of change in their district or community.

Reaching and Engaging All Learners

The Reaching and Engaging All Learners series offers general education teachers strategies for teaching students with learning disabilities, language differences, and other special considerations.
